Category:The Immune System
From MyMCAT
Our bodies are under constant attack from pathogens of all kinds. Thousands of bacteria, viruses, and parasites attempt to infiltrate the nutrient rich insides of our bodies every day and it is the central role of the immune cells and their tissues to fend off these invaders.
Classically the immune system is divided into two major categories: the innate immune system and the adaptive immune system. Together, these systems act to prevent new and recurrent pathogens from damaging our body.
The immune system chapter is divided into the following sections:
- The Innate Immune System
- The Adaptive Immune System
- The Cells of the Immune System
- The Organs and Tissues of the Immune System
